I killed Windows Media Player!
Filed in: Computers.
I noticed there was an update to Windows Media Player, and promptly told my computer to fetch it. Of course, partway through the installation, the CPU hit 100% usage and reset, hosing WMP...
The only thing stopping me from taking this heap in to get fixed right now is the fact then I'd be stuck at home without a PC for a week or so. :P

Looks like the machine is overheating. Try using compressed air to blow any dust out or running the machine with the side off.

Or you could get a mac . . .even if your stuck with windows there is NEVER a reason to use WMP. It records everything you play through it in a file nasty file. I mean EVERYTHING.

Jeramey: unfortunately cleaning the dust out of it didn't make a difference, and I've been running it with the side off for quite a while now. :/
Warchild: I've considered oh so many times getting a Mac, but most of the programs I use are all PC only...
