Alden Bates' WeblogFeigning normality since 1973Alexa needs to do garbage collectionFiled in: Internet. The reason for the title up there is a bit of a story. Several years ago now, I noticed that Alexa didn't have any "Related Sites" listed for Tetrapyriarbus. There was a link to suggest some sites, so I did, and Alexa dutifully added them to the list, which you can see here. Fast-forward to now, and three of the sites are now defunct. So I looked around to see if there was any way to take, say, Flying Pig off the list, or even notify them the site's no longer there, but it doesn't seem like there is... Perhaps Alexa should look at going through their database and checking which sites are still there and which aren't? Perhaps he could sell bacon catapaults. :) Posted by: Alden Bates | February 10, 2006 3:22 PM I know Alexa does remove domains that dont exist... but it takes some time for them to do so. The flyingpig.co.nz URL was recently purchased by a guy in Auckland. Having made his purchase he's now wondering what to do with it. He contacted me wanting details about the previous incarnation of the Pig (1999-2001). There's nothing at that link yet, but I keep checking it every so often to see what he ends up doing with it. I can't help wondering why you'd buy a URL without knowing what to do with it!
