Alden Bates' WeblogFeigning normality since 1973Slow news day?Filed in: Tetrap.Local. Two of the stories on the front page of the Dominion Post are about how Palmerston North has an obscure bylaw which makes house numbering skip the number 13, and about how the winner of last weekend's Lotto jackpot bought Chinese takeaway for dinner. I mean, kudos to whoever managed to spin the latter out to a couple of hundred words, but how did that make the front page? Are they trying to take our minds off the looming recession or something? Posted May 26, 2009 7:53 AM CommentsI'll have to write about my horror stories with house number allocation one of these days. (You think people who've been allocated no. 13 are troublesome? Wait until you have to deal with someone who's no. 666...) Posted by: Dave | May 26, 2009 6:20 PM Post a comment | |
It's news that YOU need to know.
Ever read The Truth by Terry Pratchett? He has the Patrician make the comment along the lines of "isn't it amazing how there's always some news that makes it to the front page?"
