Paged Archives Plugin: Tags

Required tags

The following tags are required for the plugin to work. They should be placed in your template as described. Only templates which include these tags will be paginated:

<MTPAEntry>
You should place this directly after the <MTEntries> tag in your template.
<MTPAEnd>
You should place this directly after the </MTEntries> close tag in your template
<MTPADate>
You should place this directly after the <MTDateHeader> tag in your template.
<MTPADateEnd>
You should place this directly after the </MTDateHeader> close tag in your template

For examples of how these tags should be used, see the template examples page.

Conditional Tags

<MTPAIfMultiplePages></MTPAIfMultiplePages>
The code contained in this conditional tag will only be included in the output file if there is more than one page. The Display and Navigation tags should only be used within an <MTPAIfMultiplePages> tag. These should also only be used before the <MTEntries> tag and after the <MTPAEnd> tag.
<MTPAEntryExtra></MTPAEntryExtra>
Allows you to specify code on a specific number post on each page.
Possible arguments:
 • entrynumber="N" - displays the contained code only on the Nth entry on each page.

Display Tags

The following tags display PagedArchives related information:

<MTPAPageNum>
This is replaced by the current page number within the archive.
<MTPAPageCount>
This is replaced by the total number of pages in the archive.

Example usage: "Page <MTPAPageNum> of <MTPAPageCount>" will yield something resembling "Page 1 of 8".

Navigation Tags

The following tags are used to provide links to other pages in the archive:

<MTPAPageList>
Creates a list of links to all other pages in the archive, looking something like "1 2 3 4 5 6"
<MTPANextPage>
Creates a link to the next page in the archive
Possible arguments:
 • text="some text" - uses "some text" as the link text, defaults to >>.
 • show="N" - where N is 0 or 1. If show is set to 1 and there is no next page, the link text appears but is not linked. Defaults to 0.
<MTPAPreviousPage>
Creates a link to the previous page in the archive
Possible arguments:
 • text="some text" - uses "some text" as the link text, defaults to <<.
 • show="N" - where N is 0 or 1. If show is set to 1 and there is no previous page, the link text appears but is not linked. Defaults to 0.
<MTPAFirstPage>
<MTPALastPage>
Create links to the first and last pages. These take the same arguments as MTPANextPage and MTPAPreviousPage.
<MTPAEntryLink>
Provides a replacement for so you can link to the correct archive page. It is assumed that (a) the archive being linked to is paged, and (b) the entries on the archive page are listed in reverse order starting at the most recent applicable.
Required argument:
 • archive_type="X" - where X is either Monthly or Category.

Example usage: <MTPANextPage text="next page >" show="1"> will display "next page >" if there is a next page in the archive, and "next page >" if there isn't.
